0
More and more people are using UPI (or Unified Payments Interface) as a way to make payments. A big reason for its popularity is that it’s easy to use – just scan the QR code or enter the mobile number (linked to a default UPI address) of the person or vendor you want make payment, and payment is made immediately. Initially, payments could be made from a bank account by linking its bank account to UPI. However, later UPI apps also began to allow individuals to add credit and debit cards to make payments to merchants. Thus, you cannot make payments to individuals (non-merchants) using your linked UPI card.

By adding a credit or debit card to the UPI apps, one can make a payment without needing to swipe it on the POS machine. Simply scan a QR code and choose the added credit/debit card as the payment method to complete the payment. Once you initiate a payment through the UPI app using a debit or credit card, a one-time password (OTP) is sent to your registered mobile number to complete the payment .
